Minister says e-passports will be introduced in the country

In view of increasing threats, Pakistan has decided to spend Rs2 billion to upgrade its cybersecurity system, Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed announced on Monday.

It is worth mentioning here that government has repeatedly accused India of waging a hybrid war against Pakistan. Last week, Pakistan said that an Indian device was used to threaten the New Zealand team which called off its tour to the country right before the first match last week.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister, while addressing a news conference in the federal capital, said that the government has decided to add more countries to the list of those who can be issued visas on arrival. Iran, Canada, United States and France are the countries being added to this list, he said. He also said that Pakistan has also decided to issue e-passports.

Rasheed also spoke about the cancellation of New Zealand cricket team’s tour to Pakistan, saying that the those behind it would soon be exposed.

Speaking about electronic voting machines, he said that the government would soon share good news about e-voting.
