IT minister says they’re working on resolving freelancers’ problems

Federal Minister for Information Technology Syed Aminul Haque recently spoke about the challenges faced by Pakistan in introducing 5G internet services due to the country’s economic crisis and political changes.

However, he remains optimistic about introducing the fastest internet service in major cities by the end of the year, despite the difficulties.

The IT sector has emerged as a critical component of Pakistan’s economy, with freelancers earning foreign exchange for the country.

Haque acknowledged the government’s responsibility to provide the necessary facilities to support the backbone of the economy.

However, freelancers are facing difficulties receiving payments due to issues such as difficulty in opening accounts and queries from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). To resolve these problems, the IT Ministry is working with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and FBR, he revealed.

Haque further revealed that Google and TikTok have registered with the authorities in Pakistan and major companies such as Facebook and Twitter are being asked to establish their offices in the country.
