Fawad stresses need for revamping institutions to meet modern standards

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday advised the Pakistani youth to keep up with technological changes, highlighting its importance for the country to move towards progress, prosperity and development.

Addressing a ceremony held to award certificates and cheques to participants of the government’s skill-based training program, the minister, who is an advocate of technological usage and growth in the country, highlighted how the companies that make up world’s tech giants had been started by youngsters. He mentioned how the technologies these youngsters introduced shaped the world as we know it today.

He said that youngsters should focus on entrepreneurship instead of seeking jobs because the success of a country depends on the entrepreneurs it creates. Fawad cited demographic figures of Pakistan, stating that since 60 percent of the country’s population is under the age of 30, skill development is an area that efforts should be directed towards.

Lately, entrepreneurship has been a central focus of the government. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan held a televised address to the nation, wherein he categorically started that the state did not have enough resources to offer more jobs in the public sector due to the steady increase in the annual pension bill. Instead, he urged the youth to focus on creating jobs and announced that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government had reserved Rs100 billion to grant loans to startups.

On Wednesday, Fawad stressed the importance of “progressive” thoughts and urged the country’s youth to learn skills that could help them meet the requirements of a changing world since distinctions between people are made on their skillset.

He also emphasized the need for revamping institutions to help them meet the needs and standards of the modern world.
